Before your treatment, please tell the therapist about your health, any chronic conditions, allergies, medication you take and any discomfort you feel.
Massage and spa treatments may be contraindicated, or require a doctor’s advice first, in the following cases:
- Fever, acute infections or feeling generally unwell.
- Acute inflammation or a flare-up of a chronic condition.
- Damaged skin, open wounds, burns or skin infections in the treatment area.
- Thrombosis or suspected thrombosis, acute vascular conditions.
- Uncontrolled high blood pressure and some serious cardiovascular conditions.
- Recent surgery, injuries or fractures — until your doctor gives the go-ahead.
- Pregnancy — some treatments need to be agreed in advance and adapted.
- Cancer, blood-clotting disorders or medication that affects clotting — a doctor’s consultation and an individual assessment are needed first.
- Allergy or sensitivity to cosmetic products, oils or body-wrap ingredients.
Some treatments have additional restrictions. For example, intensive massage, lymphatic drainage, abdominal massage, cupping/vacuum techniques and body wraps are not suitable for everyone.
Before the session, the therapist will ask a few important questions about how you feel and, if needed, suggest adjusting or rescheduling the treatment.
If you have any doubts about whether massage is safe for you, please consult your doctor beforehand. Massage is not performed in case of sudden severe pain, suspected thrombosis or any other acute condition.
